Pond
I saw a family of ducks on this pond in the Spring of aught five. I hereby dub this pond "Mallard Pond." (But I don't know that they were mallards... Better get out my bird book)

martin, give me some of that Harvard political wisdom- like, pastoral Monterey County scene bubbling with pesticide pollution below the surface.
Actually, it is much more likely there are heavy metals and unexploded ordnance below the murky depths and silty topsoil you see here; this used to be used by the Army for field exercises. Each Summer the water evaporates. Why don't you shoot me an email, and I'll give you and your four-legged friend a tour. The ponds are filling up as I write, and the ducks should be back in less than a month.
